Inspired by fine art movements; from Renaissance to Symbolism, Expressionism and Surrealism film and literature....

After reading the works of writer and poet Robert Graves who was himself a seriously wounded offcier in World War I, Brian Griffin began to think about the terrible wounds inflicted on soldiers during the conflict, which is also reflected in some of the still life images in the SPUD series... - hence One Eye

This glass eye is from Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
