Guest Artist: Lydia Smith

A new initiative with three-dimensional art at MMX Gallery: "Be More like A Horse"

We are delighted to welcome Lydia Smith into the gallery with her sculpture  on show ‘Be More like A Horse’ to accompany our current solo exhibition: (after) Whistlejacket – Contemporary Equine Photography by John Reardon.

It’s a new and exciting initiative at MMX Gallery to add three-dimensional work that can create unwritten dialogue between different mediums.

Lydia Smith, born in 1995, is a multi-disciplined Artist working with historical and contemporary processes to realise her works. Her studio is based in Bank, Central London. Through her practice, she explores the theme of Human connection which encompasses subtopics, including Ancient History, Technology, Science, and Spirituality. She uses the physical and digital landscape to create sculptures, paintings and NFT's.  Working with the ancient material, Clay, she enters a flow state, allowing her concepts to express themselves subconsciously; once complete, using her unique method, her work metamorphoses into the digital realm. These pixilated forms inform the evolution of her process.

Smith was trained in academic sculpture at the University of the Arts London (2014-2017). She also continued training at private ateliers in Greece, Spain and France. Smith's career regularly involves commissioned work within the British Film industry and collaborations with luxury brands.
